The digital art work "Every Thought Is a Galaxy" co-created by teachers and students from the Beijing Normal University School of Future Design was exhibited at the first China Digital Art exhibition. This work aims to transcend physical boundaries and explore the deep connection between the inner heart and the universe. The viewer explores the resonance between the individual and the universe through the singing bowl, amidst the turning of the stars and galaxies, arousing the ripples of spacetime, wandering between the river of memory and the stars and galaxies of the universe, touching the infinity of human and cosmic consciousness.

Interactive Sound Bowl Healing Installation Work: Every Thought Is a Galaxy
Design Team: Wang Xinyi, Zhou Tiange, Kuang Yongtao, Fu Jiaying
Work Type: Interactive Video
Installation Materials: Crystal Bowl, Singing Bowl, Projection, Piezoelectric Ceramic Vibration Sensor

The inspiration for the digital artwork "Every Thought Is a Galaxy" comes from traditional Chinese star culture and the cosmic vision of the "Book of Changes", which integrates the profound meaning of ancient cosmic culture with modern art technology. The creators attempt to transcend physical boundaries and build a bridge linking the inner world with the vast universe. By thinking about the star culture, exploring the combination of "Tao" (civilization's worldview) and "vessel" (nature and technology), creating a new link between art and technology. This work uses sound and vibration to mutually reflect human emotional surges and the dynamics of the universe, symbolically throwing ripples of time through the interaction of the bowl and mallet, and each light tap is like throwing a small stone into the endless abyss of time. The ripples aroused far exceed the linear constraints of time, presenting the non-linear and multidimensional aspects of time. The work establishes a bridge connecting individuals and the universe, presenting a profound dialogue about celestial bodies and spacetime, individuals and the universe.

These spacetime ripples triggered by sound waves resonate in the viewer's heart, building a bridge connecting the individual's past, present, and future, and also initiating a profound dialogue with human collective memory and broader cosmic consciousness. Playing on bowls of different textures and weights implies the self-rotation of different celestial bodies. This is in line with Einstein's theory of relativity about the concept of time. It’s a discussion about celestial bodies and spacetime in the East and West.

At present, the digital artwork "Every Thought Is a Galaxy" has been shared and reported by the official social media platform of the leading software in the digital media art industry "TouchDesigner" and the "China Art Newspaper".

Digital Art China

The first Digital Art China exhibition is divided into four sections: "Space Epic", "Universe View", "Biomimetic Grid", and "Endless Cave". From more than 12,000 entries, excellent works and invited works totaling over 210 pieces were selected. The categories cover CG painting, digital imaging, interactive art, mixed reality (AR, VR, MR), generative art/artificial intelligence art/AIGC, and other art works deeply integrated with digital technology. It is a centralized sorting and display of China's digital art practice, creation, and education over the past decade, showing the new productive forces facing the art world and society produced under the deep integration of art and technology.
