Gao Peng obtained his Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees from Central Academy of Fine Arts and University of the Arts London, and completed postdoctoral fellowship in Peking University. He was elected as the president of Outstanding Youths of the World Association with honorary tile of “Outstanding Youth of the World- Artistic Ambassador” in Davos 2015. Recipient of the “Beijing May Fourth Medal” in 2015. He was served as Co-Vice Chair of the Boao Youth Forum in 2021。During 2013-2025, he has led four projects of the National Arts Foundation, five projects of the Beijing Municipal Culture Foundation and other major projects.

As the Founding Dean of the SFD, Gao Peng has led the School to become a 2025 partner of the UNESCO “ICH as FASHION” Capacity-Building Programme. In 2022, the School became a Vice President Unit of the China Industrial Design Association and was recognised by the Innovation Design Research Institute. In 2024, the School established the “Key Laboratory of Traditional Craft Redesign” under the China Arts and Crafts Society; and in 2023, it founded the “Joint Laboratory of Extenics and Future Design for Interdisciplinary Studies” under the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, while also being selected as a base for the Ministry of Education – LEGO “Innovative Talent Training Programme”.
