Center of Traditional Craft Design & Innovation, the School of Future Design (SFD) in Beijing Normal University (BNU), was inaugurated on June 16, 2023. Gao Jian, a board member of Renmin University of China, a sponsor of Tsinghua University, the chairman of Shengtang International Culture Communication Co., LTD., and the chairman of the Development Council of SFD in BNU, serves as the special director of the center.

Based on cultural inheritance and combined with superior resources inside and outside the university, the center is committed to building an innovative design and research system of excellent traditional crafts, constructing a professional open scientific research platform, and serving the national development strategy and local economic & social development. With the purpose of revitalizing traditional crafts, the Center actively plays a collaborative innovation role in the fields of traditional crafts upgrading, standard research, exhibition, cultural & creative research and development. Besides, the center is aimed to help to promote and re-innovate traditional Chinese crafts.

In the future, SFD will take the good use of its professional advantages to design traditional Chinese crafts innovatively, to tell Chinese stories well, and to help traditional Chinese crafts "go to outside" to welcome the worldwide future.
