Recently, the work “Transformable Inflation Waistcoat”, created by a team from the SFD led by lead designer Liu An and including students Wu Ziling, Kong Junyu, Song Xinrui, and Wang Xinyi, won the 2024 European Product Design Award Gold and the 2024 MUSE Design Award Silver in the “Fashion Design: Recycled/Sustainable Fashion” category.

This inflatable vest embodies the principle of sustainability, blending functionality with personality to offer a new experience for outdoor enthusiasts and urban leisure seekers. It uses inflatable fabric instead of traditional filling materials, with air serving as the insulation medium, thereby reducing resource consumption. The warmth can be adjusted by the amount of inflation, making it adaptable to different environmental needs. The operation is simple, requiring only three breaths from an adult male to inflate. In case of accidental immersion in water, the vest provides buoyancy to ensure safety. It comes in three different colours and is available in both short and long versions. The inner layer features digitally generated patterns, supporting customizable designs and colours to meet various aesthetic preferences of users.
