Project: Research on Psychological Assessment Products for Primary and Secondary Schools Oriented Towards Future Education

SFD takes“Research on Psychological Assessment Products for Primary and Secondary Schools Oriented Towards Future Education”  as its central theme. Through interdisciplinary integration of“design + technology” , the project explores innovative pathways for future mental health assessment and safeguards the inner world of young people through design imbued with empathy and warmth.

Proposal 1

D.DUNE (Dudu) — An AI Interview Robot Based on Emotional Resonance

D.DUNE (Dudu) is an emotional companion robot specifically designed for semi-private interview scenarios such as school counselling rooms. It integrates multimodal technologies and aims to provide users with a safe, friendly, and professional communication environment. The design of Dudu places strong emphasis on establishing immediate emotional connection. The team has developed a complete emotional IP and narrative world for the robot; this setting not only narrows the distance between the product and its users but also lays a solid foundation of trust.

Proposal 2

DinoDots  — Your Portable “Emotional Companion Spirit”

DinoDots is a voice-based emotional companion robot designed for everyday life scenarios. Guided by the design philosophy of  “technological core × handcrafted aesthetics” , it redefines the human–machine relationship, allowing technological healing to occur in close, personal proximity at all times. The design of DinoDots breaks away from the cold and rigid perception traditionally associated with electronic products. Its exterior features a customisable, multi-coloured casing, paired with a woven hanging cord, soft and endearing silicone toes, and a skin-friendly body material, providing a tactile experience comparable to that of interacting with a real pet. By wrapping a technological core in warm, handcrafted aesthetics, the design delivers immediate emotional comfort.

Notably, the two products developed through the  “Research on Psychological Assessment Products for Primary and Secondary Schools Oriented Towards Future Education”  project —  D.DUNE  and  DinoDots  — were awarded the 2025 European Product Design Award.

The  “Research on Psychological Assessment Products for Primary and Secondary Schools Oriented Towards Future Education”  project represents an exploratory practice in addressing social issues through interdisciplinary integration. By leveraging multimodal AI technologies, the project significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of psychological risk identification, effectively empowering the educational system. More importantly, through emotionally driven design language, the project transforms cold “instruments” into warm “companions”, reshapes the experience of psychological assessment, and explores a new paradigm for human–machine relationships.
