School of Future Design Was Invited to Participate in the 2021 Shenzhen Design Week

The 2021 Shenzhen Design Week, hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and co-organized by the Publicity Office of the Municipal Government, was held in Shenzhen from December 25 to January 3. The School of Future Design of Beijing Normal University was invited to participate in the 2021 Shenzhen Design Week China-Future Design Education Forum, with a focus on the current development of design education. The School shared its unique insights on future design education, discussed the development of future design education with industry representatives, hoping to provide inspiration and thoughts to design educators.

At the forum, Gao Peng, Dean of the School of Future Design, Jiawei Gong, Head of Teaching and instructor Christoph Stahl delivered keynote speeches. “The teaching of the School of Future Design are highly in tune with the theme of the Shenzhen Design Week: problem solving,” said Gao Peng. Jiawei Gong pointed out that the concept of metaverse and immersive media would have a great impact on our life, art creation, art design and art education in the coming years. Christoph Stahl also introduced the design inspiration and process of the School's logo.

The forum also featured a roundtable dialogue on the theme of future design and future design education with Xu Ping, member of the School' s Academic Committee, and Gao Peng, along with Hu Dan, Head of Design of Shenzhen Holatek Co., and Kit Wong, Vice President of VO Art Union.

Shenzhen Design Week is an important international cultural business card of Shenzhen. 2021 Shenzhen Design Week took "Design for Problem Solving" as its theme, presenting the practical and innovative value of integrated design in problem solving. The Design Week was held for the first time out of the exhibition hall and the first time to implement the co-curator system. The number of visitors this year has exceeded 400,000 during the 10-day exhibition period.
